Season 2008/09
Aug 28, 2008, 8:52 pm

Welcome to the 2008/09 Season

May I take this opportunity in welcoming all new and existing members and also visitors to the website of Oldershaw to mark the start of the 2008/09 season. Having finally ridded ourselves of any penalties imposed upon us by the ruling dinosaurs it is nice to start the new season on a level playing field. With a new captain at the helm and a settled coaching staff you can be assured that Adam Meyerhoff and Keith Warren will have the troops ready for action by the time the first league game comes along on Saturday 13th September at Belvedere.

This season sees the senior side compete in South Lancs . & Cheshire 3 where battles will be fought against some new and old Foes. Trips to Moore and Eagle are fixtures that have not been played since the 80’s, when the games were more a war of attrition than fast flowing spectacles for the onlooker but the game of Rugby has come a long way since those exhilarating days of forwards dominating games by simply sticking the ball up thier jumpers. It will be nice to see our old adversaries back at Shaw were they can be assured a rousing welcome and after match hospitality.

There are also some new venues to visit that in recent memory I can’t recall the 1st XV visiting. So all in all it should make for an interesting season that we can look forward to without the weight of playing catch up

Attention all over 40's
Mar 13, 2008, 4:49 pm
Due to a conversation had at the bar last weekend it has come to my attention that some of the older members fancy a tour. It will comprise of leaving Saturday morning and returning Sunday evening. Hopefully we will be able to arrange a game were we will be using rolling substitutes and IRON LUNGS. You dont have to play if you do't feel up to it as the only criteria for being on the tour is being born before 1969. Hopefully we can get this tour up and running but it depends on the numbers it will attract. So if you are interested and know of other people who are please contact me at merseycab@aol.com so I can gauge the interest. I will keep you informed of how the results are going.
